Hill climb 2 racing truck vs rally car2/20/2024 We've put together a brief list of a few standout vehicles and drivers for this year's event. Since 1916, the PPIHC has been home to some pretty spectacularly insane builds that seek the best balance of weight, downforce, horsepower, grip, and some rather important hairpin braking. Robin drove a 2018 Wolf TSC-FS Italian-built prototype up the mountain with an average speed of 83 mph. Though Dumas set a second-best time of the day in a fully-electric Ford SuperVan 4.2, four-time winner Robin Shute was crowned King of the Mountain. The quickest time ever recorded, set by Frenchman Romain Dumas in 2018 went unchallenged. One at a time, each driver attempted to reach the summit for a delicious donut at 14,115 feet above sea level. Divided among six classes, drivers of various motorsports practices got one chance at conquering 156 turns that span 12.4 miles. This year, 66 drivers competed in the 101st PPIHC, held on Sunday, June 25. Situated near Colorado Springs, Colorado, Pikes Peak Mountain is a scenic toll road turned paved battleground for one day a year.
